Details:  Traditional blacksmithing techniques, combined with joinery that is more commonly found in woodworking were used in creating this piece.   The finger joint was secured with forged copper pins while the tenons of the tapered through mortise and tenon joints were peened over with a ten pound sledge hammer that gave strength to this piece that would normally only be obtained by welding.  Copper, while not a material often associated with blacksmithing, adds to the rich uniqueness of this piece and causes one to wonder if this is a modern creation or a piece found in an antique shop created a century or more ago
