One is invited to interact with the sculpture, to enter into a moment with one foot in reality and the other in a momentary abstraction of time and space.

Shadows on the Wall

Attending a performance by an internationally acclaimed ballroom dance troupe, I became enthralled by a particular performance.  A single spotlight at the rear of the venue provided the only light.  I was mesmerized by the shadow it cast on the backdrop.  Gone was the distraction of the performer’s appearance.  Gone was the distraction of the performer’s attire.  Gone was the distraction of any pretense.  What remained was simply the pure beauty of expression that could not belie truth. The shadow took on three dimensions.
